Small update on the development
Posted on 24 March 2019
It’s been a while since last devlog, but nothing less have I been busy learning and playing around with game development.
The last couple of weeks I’ve looked at 2D movement (again a LinkedIn Course), tilesets in the program Aseprite and of course been playing some fun games for inspiration and relaxing. Especially Apex Legends have been loaded a couple of times. At the same time, I decided to complete some old platformer indie games. First game is from the danish game studie Playdead - the popularly Limbo.
But focus have primary been on the game development. I have learned the programming behind a simple 2D platformer movement. Walk and run right or left. Jump and dobbelt jump. And wall slide. All done in Unity with C#. Overall it’s have been a good learning experience.
Noteworthy offline activities is that I completed the first book on game development. In early Februar I bought some interesting books on Amazon. First book done is Blood, Sweat, and Pixels by Jason Schreier.
Next book is Level Up! by Scoot Rogers. I’m looking forward to reading this book because it’s describes how to make a game from a theoretical angle. Full of good examples.
My next goal is to build the most simple platform game with the skills that I learned in the past weeks. So stay tuned and happy gaming.
